Yoga Mat

Yoga has long been recognised for its mental and physical benefits. It aids in the development of strength and flexibility, as well as stress alleviation and overall mental and physical well-being. A good yoga mat is necessary wherever you practise yoga. Working on a slick mat, a slick towel, or a mushy gym cushion can cause pain and discomfort.

How to choose Yoga Mat?

Yoga Mat Thickness

Yoga mats differ in thickness from very thin(compact) to thicker ones that render cushion support to your elbows and knees.

Thinner Mats
For yoga styles that include more dynamic postures or balanced, focused poses, thinner mats can aid boost stability. When the postures become more difficult, look for mats with rough surfaces to help you maintain a better grip.

Thicker Mats
Extra cushioning is provided by thicker mats, which are great for therapeutic exercises. If you prefer restorative yoga, which consists of fewer positions that are held for longer periods of time, then thicker mats are the way to go. Thicker mats are more comfortable for forearm and kneeling postures, as well as for yogis with sensitive knees or achy joints. During standing positions, however, it can be more difficult to get a proper balance.

Yoga Mat Material

PVC
Many mats are manufactured from PVC, a plastic-based material. It is long-lasting, easy to clean, and offers a good grip. Keep in mind that they are not absorbent, therefore when wet with sweat, they can become very slick.

TPE
Thermoplastic elastomer, or TPE, is a man-made combination of plastic and rubber polymers. These mats are typically less harmful to the environment than PVC, and some are even totally recyclable. You should be aware that these are typically less durable than PVC, but they still provide excellent traction.

Natural Mat
Natural rubber, cotton, and jute are used to make eco or natural mats. On the floor, they're normally less sticky, but they'll provide plenty of traction for your hands and feet. They aren't as robust as PVC, but if you are looking for sustainability, they are worth every penny.

Yoga Accessories

Although Yoga is a natural procedure that advocates simplicity, there are a few must-have yoga accessories as mentioned below:

Yoga Strap

Yoga straps help to attain various positions during Yoga stretches. Aside from deepening your stretch, they also assist in correcting the alignment of your body which aids in advancing your sessions. They act as a support guide to master complex moves.

Yoga Block

Yoga blocks may be used to not only make postures more accessible but also to deepen poses for more experienced practitioners. More weight-bearing postures need the use of sturdy cork blocks. These hard blocks, however, should not be utilised on joints. Instead, use Foam blocks which are less sturdy and more comfortable for joints.
